The many thousands of visitors to the Fensterbau Frontale could hardly fail to notice Schüco's trade fair booth covered in lots of green. At the leading provider of components for high-quality window, door and facade systems, sustainability in every sense of the word took center stage.
Stefaan Carrein, Sales Representative of Schüco Polymer for Flanders and the Netherlands, explains on the basis of a PVC window frame how CO2 emissions can be reduced: "By using recyclate in a window frame, the Global Warming Potential value and thus also the CO2 emissions can already be significantly reduced over the entire lifetime of the element. However, when the recyclate is additionally combined with so-called bio-attributed PVC, the GWP value drops even much further."
In addition to being sustainable, Schüco is also making the building envelope smart with new smart facades. A good example of this is the Schüco Internet of Facades, or IoF for short. With this smart tag on all facade elements, a digital identity is generated, as it were, through constant monitoring. Stefaan: "By scanning a QR code, the processor and end customer can see, among other things, what materials have been incorporated into a PVC element, such as profile system, type of glazing and window fittings. Among other things, this gives a better picture on the maintenance cycle."
