Stadur Produktions GmbH & Co. KG has successfully spe-cialized in the production and sale of sandwich elements, such as FrameTec and ProfileTec, for more than 30 years. These products are composed of a core of StadurFoam and extruded polystyrene foam with a layer of Stadurlon plastic on both sides and improve thermal and acoustic insulation when installing windows and doors. Today, the company from Hammah, Germany, presents a new version of these sandwich elements with a core made of recycled PET material: "greener," lighter and also more cost-effective.
FrameTec and ProfileTec from Stadur are used as frame extensions in the installation of roller shutter boxes and the connection of window sills or in lift-slide systems, high windows and the installation of sills. Both products are available in different heights up to 500 mm and in lengths up to 7000 mm. They are characterized by a bending strength of more than 3.1 Mpa and an excellent pull-out value vertically up to 6310 N and horizontally up to 2815 N. This ensures a precise and flat connection for each profile. Furthermore, the material absorbs almost no water (< 1.5 %) and is completely rot-free. The panels are also light, which improves handling. Nevertheless, they can handle loads up to more than 1000 kg/lm. Finally, thanks to the easy fastening with screws, without special tools, pre-drilling or doweling, the processor saves time and money.
"These sandwich elements were subjected to tests by several independent bodies. For example, tests at Schüco's technology center showed that they score significantly better in terms of energy efficiency compared to conventional elements with hollow chambers. In turn, at the ift Rosenheim, complete construction elements with these frame extensions in combination with screws and fixing brackets from SFS and window profiles Living 82 from Schüco were subjected to stability and other tests," says Marc Nickel, sales manager construction for Germany and the Benelux countries at Stadur. "Partly because of the high score in terms of energy efficiency, these products are very popular in countries such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland. On the Dutch market, this familiarity needs another boost, because we want to convince even more frame manufacturers here of the advantages of FrameTec and ProfileTec."
To continue to ensure high quality, increase capacity and meet the shortage of technically skilled labor, Stadur has recently invested heavily in its production facilities. This included installing new machines and also automating where it made sense, although much of the production process still has to be done manually. In this way, they have moved from a simple factory to industrial production.
"Sustainability is also an important issue. For example, we have installed a total of 1,300 solar panels and generate about 30 % of the electricity consumed at the Hammah plant itself. The trimmings from our sandwich panels are pressed into briquettes and sold as an energy source, and we only use 100 % of recycled material for the production of Stadurlon," Marc Nickel points out.
"At Fensterbau Frontale, we also presented a new version of the proven sandwich elements, replacing the StadurFoam at the core with recycled PET material. FrameTec and ProfileTec PET, available in lengths of up to 6000 mm, still score well in terms of thermal insulation, flexural strength (> 1.7 Mpa) and maximum load (> 1000 kg/m), maintain an excellent pull-out value (> 950 N) and are completely rot-free. However, they are significantly "greener" and the carbon footprint at production is even lower. Moreover, they are more than 60 % lighter as well as more economical than the standard version."
