Deli Home has signed the commitment letter of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This commits Deli Home to align its entire value chain with the Paris Climate Agreement and limit global warming to no more than 1.5°C.
The UN has agreed to halve global CO2 emissions by 2030 and achieve Net-Zero by 2050. Companies that commit to this must offset all remaining emissions. SBTi experts independently verify these pathways. This means that all emissions that cannot be reduced must be offset. Companies that commit to this aim to ensure that they have net-zero greenhouse gas emissions throughout their value chain by 2050 at the latest. The SBTi Net-Zero standard is the highest ambition companies can set today.
Jan-Willem Smits, CFO Deli Home: "As an international player, our activities have an impact on the environment. We feel responsible to reduce our ecological footprint because it is essential for the future of our planet. This is why we continuously improve our processes. As a producer and distributor of wood products, we naturally feel a strong responsibility for the responsible use of natural resources. We have set ourselves the goal of reducing our carbon footprint by 15% by 2025 compared to 2020, and we are well on our way to achieving this goal. Of course, we are also looking further ahead and have joined the SBTi initiative. Here we commit to a 50% emissions reduction by 2030 and aim to be a net-zero company by 2050. With SBTi, we are building a sustainable future together. This is not a one-time action for us, but an ongoing journey to a better world."
