A current concern in construction is the greatly increased cost of materials and labor. In addition, there is increasing attention to sustainability. Both of these themes will be discussed in detail at Polyclose at Harderwijk-based aluminum systems house Kawneer. "Both Building Simplicity and Building Sustainably fit perfectly with our company philosophy," says Rob Huvers, Manager of Marketing and New Business.
For years, Kawneer has distinguished itself with aluminum profile systems that are quick and easy to produce, assemble and install. In fact, this makes the company a forerunner in the field of "Building Simplicity. "Especially now that costs in construction have risen so sharply, the demand for modular systems that are easy to assemble and mount is only increasing," says Rob. "A great example of this is the aluminum curtain wall system AA 100 that we have had in our range for years. This system works with dry joints where you don't have to use sealants. This saves time and material for the installer. This product is also perfectly optimized to minimize sawing losses and material consumption and also requires fewer accessories. As a result, this system is up to 30 percent faster to assemble and install than traditional curtain wall systems with wet, sealed joints."
Kawneer is also busy working with other partners to further expand the 'Building Simplicity' trend, Rob clarifies. "For example, we have partnered with a building hardware supplier that excels in simplicity and speed of installation. Their click system requires no machining on the moving parts and also requires fewer accessories than regular systems. All this saves a lot of time; completely in keeping with our own business philosophy."
The second major theme with which Kawneer is presenting at Polyclose is "Building Sustainably," or sustainable construction. "Aluminum is already by nature indefinitely recyclable with the same properties and very low maintenance. But we also think carefully about the origin of raw materials and the whole process up to recyclability or reuse of the final product in the future when developing our products. Not for nothing are most of our products now cradle-to-cradle certified. Here, in addition to the sustainability aspects of the material, the product is also assessed for its effect on air quality and climate, water consumption and social justice. This fits perfectly with Kawneer's mission and vision."
However, according to Rob, Kawneer's sustainability ambitions reach much further: "At Polyclose, we will further explain our sustainability ambitions and we will also introduce a new concept for reducing our CO2-footprint."
A new product from Kawneer that the public can learn about at Polyclose is the RT 72 HI+ FR. Rob concludes, "This fire-resistant window and door system has been tested more extensively than the Dutch standard, making the system more widely applicable. Think, for example, of windows and doors with larger dimensions or combinations with fire-resistant panels. In addition, this system is highly insulating and easy to assemble. This makes it a perfect match for the two exhibition themes."
