Technology with magnetism used for years for entrance doors
An innovative technology as the basis of a particular product can in some cases open up opportunities for other applications. For example, several years ago at Frager (Harinck) they developed Magnetude® as a solution to the common problem of dilation in front doors. Today, this patented technology, which works through magnetism, forms the basis for a facade or sectional door: Frager Facade.
The days when facades consisted mainly of traditional red bricks are long gone. Architects, facade builders and building owners are giving free rein to their creativity, often choosing other materials to create facades with a powerful architectural look. Think of architectural concrete, wooden beams, profiles or plates in steel, Corten steel and aluminum and even finishes with greenery (plants, moss, etc.).
"At Polyclose we introduced our new concept Frager Façade, which gives architects even more creative freedom when designing an aluminum cladding or sectional door. After all, the combination of flat aluminum sheets with concealed shadow joints and sleek interior and exterior corner solutions creates a modern, minimalist design that is perfectly in line with current trends," says Franck De Munster, Frager business manager.
"In this new development, we are using Magnetude®, a unique system that came about when our R&D department was looking for a solution to the problem of warping and clamping on large entrance doors. Indeed, this patented technology, which works through magnetism and therefore not bonding, allows dilation without loss of adhesion."
However, Frager Façade offers many other advantages for processor and builder. For example, there is considerable time savings during assembly. On-site gluing takes time and the construction must then be secured with tension screws, which may only be removed again after the drying time.
"With our siding, none of that is necessary. In the first stage, the custom-delivered facade frames are screwed to the wall, after which the embedded aluminum shadow joint, baseboard or corner are slid into the facade profile. The next gable frame can then already be installed. At a later stage, the exterior panels in aluminum or other materials, which are also made to measure, are then mounted on these façade frames with magnets. This installation can also be done in all weather conditions, whereas gluing cannot be done in rain or at a temperature below 8°C," explains the manager.
"And there's more. It often happens that building elements are damaged during subsequent work on the construction site, which can cause a lot of annoyance, costs and lost time. With our solution, this does not have to be the case. The exterior panels can easily be assembled the day before delivery. If the panels are damaged later, they can also be easily replaced without the use of tools."
With Frager Façade you choose an aesthetic solution without visible fasteners, which allows door, garage door and façade to be mounted in the same plane. If openings are made in the outer plate, a drawing on the façade can be created by means of light points, for example.
"By the way, the exterior panel does not have to be in aluminum, but also copper, brass, glass, mirrors, burned wood in mosaic, ceramic, natural stone can be used as a finish. Furthermore, one can also easily incorporate LED lighting into the façade profile, install planters or exterior lighting elements or integrate equipment for video telephony," De Munster concludes.
"All parts of this Frager Façade are also separately recyclable, which makes this solution fit perfectly within the trend toward circular construction."
