Energy-saving door closing technologies from Emmeloord: the solutions remain revolutionary

The principle from the early years remains alive and well

Proper insulation is, of course, an important, first step toward saving energy. But there are more solutions imaginable to prevent energy loss in the living and working environment. At Dictator Production in Emmeloord, they have known this for more than 90 years. With an extensive range of door catchers, door closers (internal and surface-mounted), spring hinges and door hold-openers, the company ensures that both new and existing doors are reliably closed. And that gives its users many advantages. Personally and in the wallet...

The story of Dictator Production, part of the international Dictator Group since 1988, begins in 1932. In Amsterdam, a Dutchman and a German develop a hydraulic shock absorber and shutter for doors. It turns out to be a world idea that is soon patented. A name for the door catcher is just as quickly found. The inventors call their brainchild the Dictator. Simply because the product "dictates" doors to close gently and safely at the same time. The same name is given to the company within which the revolutionary system will henceforth be produced.

Many benefits

Nine decades later, the functional principle of the very first Dictator is still alive and well, and the firmly developed product is still proving itself.

"The door catcher catches a slamming door, pulls it cushioned into the lock and then keeps it securely closed," sales consultant Marc Smit explains the product's operation. "These are features that fit perfectly at a time when inflation and skyrocketing energy costs dominate. In addition, the door catchers and our other quality solutions reduce noise pollution, improve air quality and create a healthier indoor climate. They also prevent damaged doors and hardware and contribute to safety. After all, the chances of survival in the event of an early fire are many times greater with closed doors. Finally, our products can be applied to both new and existing doors and your wallet benefits from their purchase. For most of our items, the payback period is less than a year."

Highlights

In the field of door closing, access, gas spring, damping and door drive technology, among others, Dictator Production offers an extensive delivery program. Frequently chosen solutions that definitively put an end to slamming doors are the door catchers already mentioned.

They are suitable for various areas of application and can be perfectly combined with Adjunct, the invisible flush-mounted chain door closer for interior doors. Or with the equally popular Piccolo, the compact and customized surface-mounted door spring with pressure plate and adjustable closing force for interior doors. Of special note is the flexible, modular and specially developed Dictamat 50 locking system for small and medium-sized sliding doors.

"Within this mechanical system, suitable for a variety of applications, a spring cable roller is combined with a patented LD slat radial damper," Smit continued. "Together, these components ensure that sliding doors close reliably at a controlled, adjustable speed. Even under demanding operating conditions."

Dictamat 50 has been successfully tested according to the relevant standards in terms of fire protection. As a result, the system obtained in various versions can also be used in combination with fire sliding doors. "The Dictamat 50 series is extremely widely applicable and offers different solutions for exceptional situations," Smit summarizes the benefits. One example is the BK version (modular version), which can also be installed on the opening side of the door.
