Important contribution for aesthetic character to the facade

Siderius Heftrucks made clear choice for slats

Siderius Heftrucks' new building in Leeuwarden is a successful fusion of functionality and aesthetics. The collaboration between Siderius, Wijbena|Tromp, Bultena's construction team and DUCO has resulted in a building that all involved can be proud of. Siderius is ready for the next phase in their growth, with premises that are as robust and reliable as the machines they sell.

Siderius Heftrucks, an established name in the sale, rental and maintenance of forklifts and telehandlers, recently moved to a brand new location in Leeuwarden. This modern building, designed by the Wijbenga Group, not only provides room for growth, but also reflects the company's ambitions. An important contribution to the aesthetic character of the building was made by the choice of DUCO louvres. In this case study, we look at how DucoSun Cubic 300 louvers contributed to the appearance and functionality of the new Siderius building.

The challenge

Siderius Heftrucks was previously located in an old building in Berltsum, which no longer met the needs of the growing company. The move to new premises in Leeuwarden provided the opportunity to create a future-proof facility. The building not only had to be functional, but also had to have a professional and modern look that fit Siderius' identity. An important aspect in the design was to find a shading solution that met the requirements both aesthetically and functionally.

The solution

Bultena's construction team, led by architectural firm Wijbenga Groep, chose DUCO's DucoSun Cubic 300 louvers. These louvers were selected based on their robustness and ease of installation, allowing Siderius' own construction team to perform the installation itself. The architect had a clear vision for the building's visual identity, in which the slats played a key role. Although the slats initially raised some skepticism due to possible wind noise, this concern proved unfounded. The slats are stable and quiet, even in strong winds, which is an important feature in the Frisian climate.

The realization

The installation of the slats went smoothly, thanks to DUCO's detailed instructions and clear advice. Erik Jansen, business manager of Siderius Heftrucks, speaks of a very positive experience with DUCO: "Both the advice from the relationship manager and the explanations for the installation, which we did ourselves, were experienced as very pleasant." The end result is therefore very pleasing: a building with an exclusive appearance, in which the slats form a striking architectural element. Although the slats are not primarily used as sun protection, they contribute to the aesthetics of the building and reinforce the modern look Siderius was striving for.
