The machines from elumatec guarantee fast and precise machining of profiles. During development, however, attention is also paid to ergonomics and operator safety. With the SBZ 125/85, the machine builder recently introduced a closed cab system, which stands out due to dynamic pendulum operation, autonomous clamping adjustment, new technology for faster tool changes and a rotary control console.
Planning to invest in a new profile processing machine? At elumatec they are ready to support. After all, the German manufacturer offers a suitable machine for all possible processing of profiles made of aluminum, steel or plastic. "The elumatec portfolio now includes more than 120 products, enabling us to cover the entire spectrum of users - from the small design engineer to the industrial profile processor," says Bas Ladestein, managing director of elumatec Benelux BV. "Innovating is the message, but only because we always want to offer the right machine for each specific application. Working closely together and listening to customers is therefore crucial to making profile machining even more functional and profitable. Profile processing center SBZ 125/85 is one of the most
recent examples of that."
This cab machine has a machining range of 8245 mm on the X axis, 300 mm on the Y axis and 230 mm on the Z axis. It includes 5 CNC axes, a water-cooled 7 kW milling spindle with a speed of up to 20,000 rpm and an automatic magazine with 12 positions. To prevent damage, all operations, such as milling, drilling and tapping, are performed on a stationary clamped profile.
"Such closed-cab machines are popular because they block chips and reduce noise. This cab also eliminates the need to install other safety systems, such as fences, around the machine. This keeps the footprint down. A flexibly programmable laser with three-zone layout provides access protection," adds the managing director.
The team at elumatec has also paid great attention to optimizing efficiency, ergonomics and speed. Thanks to its dynamic pendulum operation, this machine can machine pieces on one side while the operator enters new profiles on the other. This significantly increases the machining speed. In addition, long workpieces that extend beyond the center of the SBZ 125/85 can still be machined. A new rotatable operating console simplifies the operator's task. It was designed as a rotating column with a height-adjustable screen and provides an unobstructed view.
"An innovative technology reduces tool change times, resulting in faster setup and increased flexibility. The adjustment of clamps for clamping profiles was also simplified and optimized. Sliding material clamps on the Y axis improve ergonomics when inserting profiles. The clamp switches automatically between loading and machining position. The workpiece thus moves to the center of the machine before machining. In this position, it can then be machined optimally by the tools. The machine can also be changed to other profile widths and shapes quickly and without tools," says Bas.
"Optionally, a chip conveyor can be integrated. Coarse chips and profile parts thus immediately fall into a bin, keeping 'the interior' of the machine clean. These features make profile machining center SBZ 125/85 another important addition to our portfolio, eluCloud Ready for the requirements of Industry 4.0."
