At elumatec, they listen to the market and the R&D department translates that input into new developments or optimizations to existing systems. To respond to needs from facade construction, metal construction and industry, the machine builder is now introducing the SBZ 145, a 5-axis machining center with autonomous material clamps and a reach of up to 7,500 x 560 x 350 mm. Drilling, milling, tapping, threading, angling and sawing - all operations are possible and, if desired, optionally in pendulum mode for machining pre-sawn individual profiles.
At elumatec, with headquarters in Mühlacker, between Karlsruhe and Stuttgart, and Benelux subsidiary in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, they are already looking forward to their 100th anniversary in 2028. As such, they can look back with pride on the splendid course covered. After all, the company, which today is part of the Voilàp Group, has become a global market leader in the production of machines for processing profiles in plastic, aluminum and steel. These are used by manufacturing companies in the most diverse industrial sectors, including the window and door sector and facade construction.
"Our portfolio today includes more than 120 products, enabling us to offer the right solution for all possible applications. This applies to the large multinational, but also to an SME or sole proprietor. With every project, we have one major goal in mind: to increase efficiency and productivity on the shop floor," says Bas Ladestein, managing director of elumatec Benelux BV. "We are a one-stop-shop for profile machining centers, sawing machines and machines, milling machines and angle-joint presses, as well as assembly tables and centers, roller conveyors, transport trolleys, tool trolleys and, of course, software. All our systems are characterized by innovative features and are always tailored to the needs of users."
The most recent development is called SBZ 145. This profile processing machine in a robust and stable gantry design has a reach of up to 7,500 mm on the X axis, 560 mm on the Y axis and 350 mm on the Z axis. It includes 5 CNC-controlled axes and is equipped with autonomous material clamps.
"This new development allows milling, drilling, tapping, threading, hobbing and sawing profiles from aluminum and thin-walled steel. To protect the profile surface, all operations are done on a stable clamped profile. An optional right-angle milling head is also available, with which six profile sides can be machined. Thanks to dynamic servo drives, the machining unit is quickly brought into the correct position, up to 75 m/min. The travelling, vertically mounted tool magazine ensures short tool changes and thus fast machining cycles. This magazine accommodates twelve standard tools and six special tools. 254- and 500-mm-diameter saw blades can also be used," Ladestein explains the concept and features.
"Two separate work zones allow machining of pre-cut individual profiles. Access is secured with a side safety fence, light barriers and an optional central zone monitored by a laser scanner. This machine can also be "personalized" on request with additional material clamps and in the future with measuring probes, tool and profile length measurement. This new system uses the proven eluCam HMI and for control purposes there is eluCad with its extensive connection and import functions for standard calculation programs and common design and CAD software. This new addition to the elumatec portfolio is eluCloud Ready for the requirements of Industry 4.0. It is a real game-changer: a fully-fledged 5-axis machine for facade construction, metal construction and industry at an attractive price."
