Manufacturer of screens and fly screens presents new features

Many innovations on display at Polyclose

BD Systems, manufacturer of mosquito nets and fly screens, presents a number of novelties at Polyclose, the largest event in the Benelux in the field of window, door, sun protection, facade and access technology. We talk to Managing Director Marc Vervisch.

The manufacturer of fly screens, has a quarter of a century of experience in tailoring fly doors and fly windows. BD Systems also has a large stock of aluminum profiles and high-quality insect netting. Each product is Belgian-made, with high-quality raw materials and technical understanding. In production, up to 1,500 insect screens roll off the line each week. That accounts for some 45,000 custom-made products per year, including large sizes.

Takeover

The company was acquired 5 years ago by Marc Vervisch, former owner of Copaco Screenweavers, manufacturer of mosquito netting and screen cloths. Today, BD Systems is headed by Wim Bekaert, a man with three decades of industry experience. He forms a tandem with Carole Devos, for whom the customer is central. In recent years, the workforce was expanded from 10 to just over 20 people. The company also underwent a modernization process. The website was redesigned. An order platform was also developed for the professional on which he can enter his orders directly and in a uniform way. BD Systems wants to further expand its services in Belgium and is therefore looking for additional partner installers.

Innovations

BD Systems has developed some innovations in recent years that will soon be presented at Polyclose. "We are in a world where there is actually very little innovation," says Managing Director Marc Vervisch. "But with our innovations we try to make it easier to place. We have developed five novelties in recent years that we are showing at Polyclose."

Apartments

The first innovation is of interest to apartment dwellers. "In the world of apartment construction, a lot of aluminum ballustrades are used that are placed very close to the windows," says Marc Vervisch. "There simply couldn't be a screen between them anymore. The classic screen windows were not adapted to the new building trend. We therefore developed a specific window screen that fits in perfectly, with an adapted profile.

Steellook windows

BD Systems' second innovation is relevant to steellook windows. "With the classic steellook windows, which are very clean and flat, the classic screen could not be mounted. Too bad, because we got quite a few questions from customers who wanted that. We developed special clips that allow those adjustments to be made anyway. This is definitely a handy factoid for our installers."

Softclose system

Furthermore, BD Systems developed a softclose system for the sliding screens. This mechanism is installed in the rail, causing the sliding screen door to pull slowly towards the end. "Our system ensures that the screen door will automatically slide gently towards it. At 10 centimeters from the edge, the door will gently brake. The system - which works with a pump - is easily installed by the installer."

Plissé screen doors

Finally, BD Systems is now also manufacturing pleated screen doors in-house, allowing delivery in standard colors within a shorter delivery time. "Sometimes there is insufficient space around the doorway for a sliding screen or an opening door. A pleated door offers a compact alternative. The typical accordion system was given a contemporary look, making it an excellent choice for any type of interior today. The handle is built into the frame."

Outdoor

BD Systems is slowly making moves into outdoor applications as well. In addition to mood panels in wood and aluminum, a screen door was developed with an awning fabric on both sides.
