A brand that has existed since 1840 and a Dutch subsidiary established in our country since June 1, 2008. Today, the company is run with heart and soul by a passionate management, with an equally passionate team. CES, manufacturer and supplier of electronic and mechanical locking systems, was literally outgrowing its premises. Reason enough for managing director Ronald Boon to look for new premises. We speak to him at the new location. He is a passionate professional and above all a people's manager. You can see that in the whole set-up, both inside and outside, of the new building on the Boogschutterstaat in Apeldoorn. "When you get a building like that at your disposal, you only have one chance to get it right the first time."
The property has a tasteful and very remarkable architecture.
The company building, built under architecture in 2000, is particularly impressive, to say the least. Even more impressive is how Studio Westgeest was able to translate Ronald's vision of the new way of working into the interior, with Judith Westgeest literally having to look through things to arrive at the final design. "Judith uncovered the essence of the building. The forward-sloping facade is supported by huge clearwood trusses. These trusses form the load-bearing structure throughout the building. When we first looked inside, the entire wood construction was hidden from view, also typical of the architectural styles prevalent in the early 2000s. Judith looked right through that and came up with the idea of exposing the wood. The collaboration between heavy wood and black steel now provide the industrial character that makes this shelter a unique experience."
Downstairs. The beautiful wood may finally be seen after all these years.
The interior fits perfectly with Ronald's philosophy and what CES stands for. Everything exudes atmosphere, transparency and a warm, industrial tone. Offices are separated from the corridors by glass walls, containing tasteful wenge wood doors. What is unique is the way the carpet from the corridors partly continues under the glass walls, into the offices.
"With this we optically widen the walkways," Ronald explains. The glass is cleverly applied: from the first to the last office located along a corridor, there is a continuous line of sight.
"This way we keep visual contact with each other, which applies to both the ground and second floors." The use of color is calm and natural, with the dark wood, glass, clear wood trusses, concrete, black fleece wallpaper and black industrial steel. "BBD Construction Management took care of everything to perfection. An extra kudos goes to Intermontage Leurink BV from Terwolde, who created zones in the offices with clever cabinet solutions," adds Ronald.
The upper floor. Clearly visible is how the hallway is visually widened by running the carpet under the glass wall.
The building is designed for people and also reflects the sobriety of the German family business. Or, as Ronald himself puts it, "Those who come here taste the love for the trade, the customer and the employees. We are ready for the future. Ready to offer a new generation of young employees a workplace as they like it today. Here we work, celebrate, support each other and recreate. You can do that inside, but also on the naturally vegetated roof terrace. You are at home here."
