Companies are investing in electric stair climbers to reduce "the daily grind" for their staff. For example, Zonzini's Skipper Plasmoid effortlessly transports furniture, machinery, windows, doors and other (heavy) goods from the car, inside and outside, as well as up and down stairs. Thanks to two independently driven non-slip tracks, the system always maintains its grip and can rotate 360°. Moreover, the operator does not have to balance his load on each step, which improves safety.
"Purchasing a stair climber such as our Skipper Plasmoid means that as a company manager, one is taking his employees into consideration. In fact, such a system increases safety and ergonomics. Moreover, one recovers that investment in a very short time, even more than once. After all, it is an ideal solution for transporting heavy goods from top to bottom or vice versa on a daily basis," says specialist Jacopo Zonzini, whose company has specialized in the development of such transport systems for more than 45 years. "We listened to the problems that appeared in practice and adapted our Skipper accordingly, so that one can always transport goods in a safe and reliable way."
Maneuvering up stairs does present some challenges. Often there is very little room in height or a landing or passageway is very narrow. It is also important that the load remains balanced at all times, preventing damage to goods, stairs, handrails and walls while ensuring operator safety at all times.
"With wheeled systems, the operator has to balance the goods himself on each step, making the job more time-consuming and increasing the risk of accidents. Our Skipper Plasmoid makes life easier for the operator. At the touch of a button, that operator can change the inclination angle of the stair climber and thus pass through low doorways or in corridors with low ceilings," indicates business manager Zonzini. "Turning and turning, even on narrow lanes, without unbalancing the load is also not a problem thanks to the two independently driven tracks, which allow 360° maneuvering. They also ensure that the stair climber maintains maximum grip on any surface, indoors and outdoors, even on irregular steps. And control is done with one finger, so to speak, because the stair climber is equipped with a joystick, which allows him or her to perform all operations in a simple and intuitive way."
