Typical for the Netherlands is that there is sometimes a plinth or upstand behind the door. The disadvantage of this in combination with blind hinges is that such a door cannot open fully 180 degrees. The brand new invisible hinge from Breuer & Schmitz provides the solution for this. "The wide opening radius of the 130-80 allows a full opening of the door," says Gijs-Bert Drost, account manager for Southern Netherlands and Belgium.
Invisible hinges, concealed hinges, blind hinges or hidden hinges. In practice, these hinges have many names. Yet the hinges all have the same function and the same advantage: concealed hinges are completely hidden from view when the door is closed. And thus they are an important component for a minimalist design on any door.
About four years ago, Breuer & Schmitz, the address for quality hinges for commercial and residential construction for 140 years, also introduced its own range of concealed door hinges under the name Hide program. Besides the fact that there is a plinth or upstand behind many doors, another typical feature of the Dutch market is that there are many obtuse doors here, says Gijs-Bert. "Those obtuse doors in the Netherlands often have a too-back position of 2-3 mm in relation to the frame. This is where the advantage of the range of blind hinges from our Hide program comes into play, because they can be used with frames with a setback of up to 5 mm without any problems."
Over the past two years, Breuer & Schmitz invested heavily in further perfecting the concealed hinge. This resulted in the 130-80, a concealed door hinge that is fully tailored to the Dutch market. "Compared to the previous models, the bridge has been considerably strengthened, also the 3D adjustability has become super easy," says Gijs-Bert. According to him, the brand new 130-80 - suitable for a door thickness from 35 mm and up to 1000 mm door width - has also already been well received by the market. "Meanwhile, several processors have already tested this invisible hinge in practice and they are very enthusiastic about it. Especially since the milling jig for the earlier model blind hinge 130-70 can also simply be used for the new 130-80."
Also new within the BSW program is a special hinge for wood/aluminum doors and frames. "There is a new trend in the Netherlands of doors and frames that are made of wood on the inside, while the outside consists of aluminum plating," the account manager explains. "In countries such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland this has long been commonplace, but this product is now increasingly emerging on the Dutch market as well. Of course, Breuer & Schmitz has developed another customized model specifically for the Dutch market."
