A new face he is not. The industry already knows him. But ... what many don't know, and what Niels van Essen likes to talk about, is the fact that for a year now he has been co-owner/director of Baarn-based Kruba. The well-reputed supplier of production machinery was run in recent years by Cees van Essen. So now son Niels joins, partly with a view to the future. Niels: "Cees has absolutely no plans to stop - on the contrary! - but to govern is to look ahead. Now that he is giving me the opportunity to take this step, we are immediately working on the continuity of the company in the future. That is nice for our customers to know and of course also for all our employees."
About the field itself, at least, you don't have to tell Niels anything. He has been active in the organization for more than 8 years. Once he started as a mechanic, moved up to head of Technical Services and now he has taken the step to management. "In this past year, I have obviously had to master many new things, but that has worked out well. Because of all my expertise gained in the years before, I know what Kruba is all about. I already knew many customers through my mechanic work, but still - in this role - every day will be about gaining as much knowledge as possible to make the right decisions. I now naturally do that together with Cees: we spar well together and it goes without saying that I enjoy benefiting from his knowledge."
Thus, the cooperating pair will also be highly visible at the upcoming Polyclose in Ghent. "There we like to show what is possible from Kruba in the field of production automation. On our stand we will place some of our machines. These are a good example of what we can do and how we help our customers optimize their production chain. Visitors to our booth will then see, for example, our profile machining center, complete with assembly stations (Thorwesten's PBZ 4.2 ed.)."
And, there are of course plenty of Reference Cases to tell, such as the long-standing close cooperation with IJmuiden-based KUFA Raamsystemen, manufacturer and supplier of plastic window frames. "Last summer, our fitters there installed a Thorwesten, steel saw center type SSA 9. Due to the great success of their Reno S9000® profile, Kufa Raamsystemen was 'forced' to further expand their machinery. Another new production line for sliding doors will soon follow Kufa Raamsystemen."
When Cees and Niels look ahead to 2024, they are positive. "Our order book is fine. All is well," says Cees. "For example, house preservation and renovation will continue to increase. I do expect that new construction - because of all the measures around nitrogen - will continue to decline in volume. Still, I see a recovery there before the year 2025. For the two of us it remains of great importance to give our customers all the attention they deserve, to keep working continuously on our service and support and, above all, to continue to give that impulse to optimize, automate and make their technical work processes more efficient."
