The architecture and construction sector are facing major changes and challenges in the coming years and decades. In particular, climatic conditions and the availability of (local) raw materials will increasingly play a decisive role in the realization of projects. "On the way to more sustainability, constant development of new, successful sustainability concepts is therefore necessary," says Koen Schepens, active within REHAU as sales manager Window Solutions Benelux. "We are already making new windows out of old ones," he says. 

"Smart solutions based on plastics that are highly valued by architects and investors with vision. Because they are beautiful and stable. But also because they are composed of renewable raw materials and help save energy. As such, they fit perfectly with REHAU's philosophy. Offering sustainability is a matter of course with us." 

Available anytime, anywhere

With the introduction of the Window.ID, REHAU is taking another firm step on the sustainability path. It is an invention that allows every installed window to be closely monitored throughout its entire lifespan. Regardless of whether the profile is made of plastic, wood or aluminum. "The digital REHAU Window.ID window axis provides complete transparency regarding installed objects," Schepens continued. "Each window element receives a unique identification tag with QR code and RFID technology. As a result, a window in the chain is always and everywhere visible. Just like all information óabout that specific window." 

Added values

The system provides manufacturers and professional window processors throughout the entire value chain with greater efficiency and welcome added value. During production, transport, delivery, assembly, digital acceptance and any service and maintenance. This saves the manufacturer time and costs. "Via the digital pass, the end user has direct access to all relevant data, the applicable certificates and operating instructions of the window in question," Schepens explains. "That information is available throughout the entire life of the element and is also accessible with any software package."   

Comprehensive recycling concept
Within REHAU's continuously optimized approach, a prominent place is given to the EcoPuls label, the leading recycling concept for sustainable window solutions with a very high ecological footprint. In terms of recycling materials, the company masters the full cycle. From the collection of old windows to the processing and use of the recyclate for new products. With EcoPuls, REHAU promises every generation a future. Beautiful figures are the basis for this. The proportion of recycled material in EcoPuls profiles currently varies between 40 and 75% and is still increasing. By using reusable raw materials, REHAU reduces CO2 emissions by 97,000 tons annually, the equivalent of 7.8 million trees. In addition, approximately 70,000 tons of used material are recycled each year.
