Weekamp Deuren's doors excel not only in style, but also in durability. "Every door we supply is produced as a unique door," explains Managing Director Hans Mascini. "This allows architects and homeowners to implement specific wishes. From wood type to size, style and finish. And even the hinges and locks can be fully customized. All custom doors are produced 'made to order' in our factories in the Czech Republic and Portugal, according to the highest quality and sustainability requirements. For example, with our insulating core, the use of recycled hardwood and the application of 100% FSC and PEFC certified wood in 2025, we are sorting for a beautiful and sustainable future."
At the beginning of this year, Weekamp Deuren's range was expanded to include the very first insulated and KOMO-certified stacking door with GND warranty. "Our 54 mm thick door is ideally suited for older homes, which now often contain standard and uninsulated hardwood back doors," said Mascini. "By replacing these old doors with our insulated stacking sill rear door, residents immediately benefit from reduced energy consumption, improved security and increased home comfort. In addition, the door helps reduce outside noise. Because we use a Medite Tricoya Extreme top layer combined with an insulated core in manufacturing, residents are assured of an A-grade closed surface on the outside and a high-quality insulated interior."
The insulating stacking sill rear door will be available from the end of February. "We expect great interest from housing associations as well as private homeowners. But also from architects, who are increasingly involved in renovation and transformation projects." In addition, Mascini sees in the market that wooden front doors are increasingly being used in existing plastic window frames. "We respond to this, for example, with our insulated flat front doors, which combine the quality and thermal performance of wood with unprecedented design freedom."
Also innovative is the flat door with recycled edge wood, combined with a bio-based (wood fiber) insulation core. With this, Weekamp Deuren presents the epitome of sustainability. "To make a new biobased door, three to four old doors are sufficient," Mascini said. "Talks are currently taking place with recycling companies, for example, to keep the flow of recycled hardwood from old doors up to speed."
The old doors are taken apart and sawn by a social workshop, after which the good pieces are separated from the obsolete ones. "With this service we want to close the raw material chain as much as possible, without sacrificing the quality, high insulation values and design freedom that people have come to expect from us." As a third step in sustainability, Weekamp Deuren intends to replace all mineral insulation materials based on petroleum and chlorine (XPS or EPS) with insulation materials made of wood fiber boards.
Weekamp Deuren has been the specialist in wooden exterior and interior doors for 45 years. In late 2019, the company was acquired by Deli Home, which also markets structural and decorative home products from Skantrae, Bruynzeel, CanDo and Lundia. "In recent years, we have made the transition from a family business to a corporate environment, implementing a new IT platform and a new logistics setup in addition to a new ownership structure," says Mascini. "Partly because of this, we can fully focus on the present and the future. Not only with the best products, but also with excellent delivery performance and virtually flawless order fulfillment."
An important dot on Weekamp Deuren's horizon is the application of 100% sustainable wood (FSC and PEFC) by 2025. "This brings us in line with the sustainability goals of our parent company as well as the STIP certification criteria," Mascini said. "In the coming year, our production will be adjusted so that even the last percent of stacking doors will henceforth be made only with sustainably sourced wood. This will further increase the sustainability of our doors."
