Door catchers save residents and users many annoyances

DICTATOR door catchers put an end to slamming doors. "Many front doors, entrance doors or apartment doors regularly lock with a loud bang. Even if they are equipped with a door closer," says Joël Hoornveld, sales manager at DICTATOR Productie BV. "On the contrary, other doors don't close completely, but mostly remain ajar. Even in combination with a door closer, this creates a safety risk. Our door catchers provide a solution for this and ensure that doors are always gently and reliably caught and closed. In doing so, they save residents and other users a lot of aggravation."

Controlled and silent

For 90 years, the DICTATOR door catchers have been catching slamming doors hydraulically controlled and silently and keeping them firmly closed, Hoornveld emphasizes. "These are features that fit perfectly at a time when inflation and skyrocketing energy costs dominate. Our door catchers and other quality solutions also reduce noise pollution, improve air quality and create a healthier indoor environment. They prevent damaged doors and hardware and contribute to safety. The products can be applied to both new and existing doors and, as a result, may pay for themselves in less than a year."

Thanks to DICTATOR door catches, door handles, padlocks or roller locks can be omitted if possible, Hoornveld said. "A simple doorknob or elbow hook on the hinge side and a push plate on the day side are sufficient." The door catchers are widely used in offices, hotels, residential buildings, nursing homes and hospitals. "Particularly from the latter group, the demand grew for enclosures that are closed and easy to keep clean. We have responded to this with the DICTATOR type 1600; a closed model in which the cylinder and all fixing screws are invisibly and hygienically concealed. Another further development is design model DICTATOR VS 2000, which is highly regarded by architects thanks to its sleek appearance and closed housing. When the door is closed, the door catch and hook form one tight unit on the door."

A suitable door catcher for every door

Over the years, DICTATOR Productie BV has developed and marketed various types of door hangers, so that there is a solution for almost every door situation. For example, there are special versions for application on sliding doors (type 1100 and type 1700). "The door catcher DICTATOR type 1400 has been specially designed for indoor application on outward opening doors, while miniature versions of the door catcher have been developed with Junior for application on small lightweight doors," Hoornveld said. "Various door catchers are also available in white (RAL 9010), black (RAL 9005) or gray (RAL 9006). Other RAL colors are also available upon request for possible projects."

Operation of door catchers

The operation of the DICTATOR door catches is very simple, Hoornveld emphasizes. "Door catches are usually installed centrally at the top edge of the door. The hook is then placed on the door frame. When the door opens, the hook automatically pushes the roll bar down, tightening the integrated spring. When the door closes, the hook brings the roll bar up and the door movement is hydraulically damped." The damping is progressive, he says. "This means they operate the door reliably and gently, regardless of the size and weight of the door and regardless of whether the door is closed or slammed normally. Then the door catcher pulls/pushes the door completely closed and the force of the spring keeps the door closed."

The door catchers are suitable for front doors and entrance doors in private and public buildings, hotels and restaurants, fire doors and refrigerator doors. But also for heavy industrial doors and gates. In short: for all doors where there is room for installation, says Hoornveld. "As a locking device for swing doors, we also offer recessed chain shutter Adjunct or surface-mounted door spring Piccolo. For sliding doors, we also offer the so-called spring cable rollers or DICTAMAT 50 as a complete mechanical closing system with a constant (adjustable) closing speed over the entire closing path. To easily hold doors in any position, we offer with the ZE Design Line and Standard Line a beautiful series of foot-operated door hold-openers with a stroke of 2.5 to even 20 cm!"
